The Monterey Peninsula Water Management District has created a unique opportunity for an accomplished or aspiring water professional to join the organization, contribute at the executive level, and focus on Water Resources, External Affairs, Administrative Services, Environmental Resources, and Maintenance and Operations. This career opportunity of Assistant General Manager (AGM) requires an engaging leader who will be responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the operations and services of the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District in collaboration with the General Manager. The District has a FY 2024-25 Budget of $42.86 million and employs twenty-five full-time staff members. The AGM will play a key role in managing activities related to the core functions of the Water District, which include water supply planning and delivery, water permitting, water conservation, environmental compliance, and administrative services.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in water resources utility management, including 3 years of progressive administrative and supervisory responsibility, which included responsibility for the development and implementation of complex public works/utility projects, programs, goals, policies, and strategies. A Master’s degree is a plus. A law degree focusing on environmental, natural resources, or water law may be a plus. Technical expertise in water law, water resources, environmental conservation, or engineering is also a plus.
This at-will position has a salary range of $184,968 to $224,829 DOQ. Additionally, the District offers an excellent executive benefit package, including CalPERS. Moving and relocation allowance offered.
